2003 recap
The good: Biffle slugged it out with Jamie McMurray for Rookie of the Year honors, but fell short. Still, Biffle enjoyed a much better season than he predicted going in. Prior to the season, he felt he'd be lucky if he even cracked the top-30. Had it not been for a 35th-place finish in the season finale at Homestead (Fla.), he might have finished as high as 18th. Also, Biffle won the Pepsi 400 at Daytona, his first career Cup win.

The bad: Biffle was a middle-of-the-road finisher in most races, generally winding up between 10th and 25th. He rarely seemed able to mount any type of momentum, and six DNFs accounted for a sixth of the races he started. For a guy who won the Busch Series championship in 2002, Biffle struggled in his first full season of Cup racing. His worst showing was failing to qualify at Las Vegas.

Key stat: Biffle led a total of 136 laps (spread across just six races) all season, the most being 70 laps in the summer race at Darlington (S.C.), where he eventually finished ninth.

2004 outlook
What needs to be done: Biffle has to work on his confidence and consistency.

Greg Biffle

Key change: Biffle let himself be intimidated one too many times during the 2003 season, preventing him from having better finishes on several occasions. He needs to be more aggressive and assertive on the racetrack. He drives with a conservative Matt Kenseth-like style, when he should be driving with an aggressive Dale Earnhardt Jr.-like approach.

Guarantee: With one season of Cup racing under his belt, Biffle is too talented to finish 20th or lower in 2004. He easily should be able to end the upcoming season in the top-15, although he has the talent and potential to crack the top-10 if a few breaks go his way, unlike the bad breaks he endured in his rookie Cup season in 2003.

Prediction: Biffle will finish in the top-15, and has an outside shot of finishing top-10 by the end of the 2004 campaign.

Did you know: Biffle is the only driver in NASCAR history to win both the Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series championships. He's hoping to make it a trifecta by adding a Nextel Cup title to that resume in the next few years.

Your take
Will Greg Biffle show the kind of mettle he did during 2002, when he won the Busch Series championship, in his sophomore season in Cup racing? Here are your thoughts on Biffle's prospects in 2004.
