Tuesday, December 23 Updated: February 17, 3:57 PM ET Ricky Craven By Rupen Fofaria Special to ESPN.com
The good: Craven came out on the right end of the most exciting finish of the season when he and Kurt Busch beat and banged each other's cars across the finish line at Darlington Raceway. That was the high point of his season and pulled him up to fifth in the standings very early on. Then things got rough. The bad: Back-to-back DNFs in May drug him down to 15th and began a slow trickle down the points standings to his low-point of 27th, which he reached in the next-to-last event at North Carolina Speedway and maintained at year's end. Key stat: 3,116,210. That's how many dollars Craven won in 2003, a career high for him thanks to some bonuses he's still enjoying from finally joining the rank of winners in 2001 and also to his Darlington win.
2004 outlook
Key change: Moving to Chevy will be a big help for Craven because he'll have a lot more manufacturer-mates with whom to share notes. Prediction: Craven might have missed his shot at cracking the top 10 in the points standings, but he probably won't end up as low as he did last year. Did you know: Craven is an avid snowboarder.
