Ron Felling

For the better part of his 14 years on Coach Knight's staff, Felling was the Dr. Jekyll to Knight's Hyde. Felling joined the staff shortly before the "Season on the Brink," when assistant Jim Crews left for the Evansville job, and the players immediately fell in love with Felling. His easygoing, joking nature was a breath of fresh air not just for the Hoosier players, but the other coaches as well. He was, as John Feinstein wrote, "always one of the boys."

Down the road, though, things would sour dramatically. Knight supposedly fired Felling in 1999 when he overheard a phone conversation in which Felling said that Knight's "ranting and raving" was taking the fun out of winning. When Felling confronted Knight, the General allegedly punched Felling in the chest, knocking him backward into a TV.

Felling has since sued Knight for violating his civil rights, assault, battery and for inflicting emotional harm.

And, on top of all of that, it was Ron Felling who was rumored to have leaked the now infamous tape of Knight "choking" Neil Reed to CNN a few years ago.
