Nikodinov pays a visit to New York and an old friend

 Dear Diary,

Nothing major really going on in my life this week. My training is still limited by my ankle, which I am trying to nurse back to 100 percent even though it is doing much better.

My focus really has been staying prepared for the World Figure Skating Championships just in case I get to go. They are competing right now in Junior Worlds in Germany. I do hope that everyone on the U.S. team skates well. Once the Junior Worlds are completed, I will know whether or not I qualify for the World Championships.

I don't really have much time for a personal life with all my training. However, I did get to visit my friend Tara Lipinski in New York. She is performing in the Stars on Ice skating show, which I got to see. The show is awesome! New York is very different from Los Angeles. It is a lot busier than Los Angeles. I like visiting there, but I don't know if I could see myself living in New York.

My New York visit was special because I got to spend time with Tara, who's my best friend. We got to spend a lot of time together and even go shopping. It is very interesting how we grew so close. I was competing against Tara going back to about 1995. Competitors really don't become friends, but we always wanted each other to do well, cheering each other on. When she was having a bad day she would call me, and when I wasn't having a good day I would call her.

In the future, I see myself being a professional figure skater like Tara. It would be awesome to go on some kind of a tour. Most people who figure skate dream of doing shows and touring. I want to make a name for myself first as an amateur to really have an impact in a professional career.

My eyes are also set on the 2002 Olympics. It is never too early to start preparing and every day counts.

The weather has been beautiful here in Michigan, and I look forward to more 80-degree weather.

Until next time,

Angela
