KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Igor Simutenkov scored in the 86th
minute to lift the Kansas City Wizards to a 2-1 victory over the
San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
Simutenkov took a midfield pass from Kerry Zavagnin pass about
30 yards from the goal and slotted the ball between the legs of
goalkeeper Joe Cannon.
The league-leading Earthquakes (12-7-2) opened the scoring in
the 25th minute when defender Eddie Robinson headed Richard
Mulrooney's corner kick past goalkeeper Tony Meola.
Five minutes later, Kansas City forward Stephen Armstrong took
Chris Klein's pass just outside the penalty box and kicked the ball
past Cannon.
