Busch needs seven saves to earn shutout

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Columbus goalkeeper Jon Busch made seven saves for his fourth shutout of the season as the Crew and New England Revolution played to a scoreless tie Saturday night.

Columbus (10-10-5) moved into the Eastern Conference lead, a point ahead of Chicago, while New England dropped to 9-14-2.

Columbus' best scoring chance came in the last minute of overtime when Jeff Cunningham took a pass from Edson Buddle inside the box and sent a hard shot toward the far post. But goalkeeper Adin Brown made a diving save and deflected the ball off the post.

Brown stopped five shots -- including two late saves on Brian McBride and Cunningham -- for his third shutout of the year.

Cunningham appeared to score in the final minute of regulation, but was ruled offsides.

Busch's best save came in the 10th minute when he knocked Brian Kamler's 30-yard shot over the crossbar.
