Transfer Talk: Zinedine Zidane won't join Manchester United unless these players come in

The transfer window in all of Europe's big five leagues is now closed, but that doesn't stop Transfer Talk from rummaging through the remains of the summer window to scrounge up the earliest bit of gossip about who will be moving where come January.

Kroos tops Zidane's Man United wish list

Zinedine Zidane has compiled a list of transfer targets in the event that he takes over at Manchester United.

Toni Kroos, one of Zidane's former midfield maestros at Real Madrid, is amongst his primary targets, claims the Mirror.

Thiago Alcantara, James Rodriguez and Edinson Cavani are also possible targets for the Frenchman.

Jose Mourinho has been under intense pressure after a mixed start to the season and a turbulent summer that saw the club fail to land a number of his preferred targets.

Zidane will command a number of guarantees to replace the Portuguese though, says the report, with the aforementioned talent likely to be amongst his first recruits.

City and United battle for Neves

Manchester City and Manchester United will go head-to-head in a battle to sign Ruben Neves, according to the Sun.

The Wolves midfielder will cost around £60 million as he's hit the ground running in the Premier League after inspiring the club to promotion last term.

The clubs are expected to make moves once the January transfer window opens and Pep Guardiola will be desperate to avoid missing out on another midfield target after Jorginho opted to join Chelsea over a move to the Etihad.

Terry in line for bumper Spartak contract

John Terry will pocket £1.8m after tax to play at Spartak Moscow after undergoing a medical with the Russian club, says the Telegraph.

The former Chelsea star has been without a club since his release from Aston Villa this summer, but will now boost Massimo Carrera's ranks in the Russian capital.

A close friend of Antonio Conte, who recommended the 37-year-old former England skipper, Carrera has now solved a defensive crisis following the injury of Samuel Gigot, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

- Cesc Fabregas remains an AC Milan target with his Chelsea contract set to expire next summer. The Spaniard could also be a target in January, claims Corriere dello Sport, though that will depend on his involvement under Maurizio Sarri, which will become clearer after the international break.

- Watford could build on their strong start to the season by signing striker Filip Stuparevic. The 18-year-old will join from Vozdovac in January, claims Sportski Zurnal, with an impressive nine goals in 18 caps for Serbia under-17s attracting the Hornets.

- Bournemouth are about to tie down Eddie Howe to a new and improved contract, according to the Mirror. The Cherries boss will pen a new £4m-per-season deal to extend his six-year stay in his second spell in charge at Dean Court.
