Bolivia appoint Angel Guillermo Hoyos as head coach

Bolivia have appointed former Barcelona B coach Angel Guillermo Hoyos as successor to Julio Cesar Baldivieso.

Baldivieso led Bolivia to a poor Copa America Centenario showing where they finished bottom of Group D without a single point.

The 44-year-old had a record of 10 losses and one victory in his 11 games in charge, and was relieved of his duties ahead of the next round of South American World Cup qualifiers, with Bolivia sitting second last on three points from six games.

"We welcome Mr. Angel Guillermo Hoyos as the new technical director of #LaVerde," a statement from the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) read.

"With this selection we are confident in his ability, professionalism and we are confident we will get perseverance, effort and work all the way from the lower divisions, one of the many ways that meet the objectives we have.

"We feel that we have chosen the ideal person."

Hoyos, 53, previously coached Barcelona B from 2001 to 2006, where he unearthed Argentina star Lionel Messi, during his time with the Catalan club.
