Hellas Verona handed partial stadium ban after racial abuse incident

Hellas Verona have been handed a partial stadium ban, suspended for a year, after a section of home supporters racially abused Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi at the weekend.

The France international was abused after opening the scoring in Juve's 3-1 win at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Saturday evening and a Serie A judge has now ruled the south stand will be closed if such behaviour is repeated by fans inside the next 12 months.

A statement published on legaserie.it said Verona, who are 19th in the table, have also been fined 20,000 euros over the ``chants expressing racial discrimination'' heard in the fifth minute of the match.
