MIAMI -- Manchester United had only five senior outfield players in training on Monday after Eric Bailly, Ander Herrera and Chris Smalling sat out ahead of the International Champions Cup clash with Real Madrid.

Luke Shaw was part of the group which trained at Barry University on Monday morning despite missing the defeat to Liverpool in Michigan on Saturday.

Sources told ESPN FC that Herrera picked up an ankle knock during the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in Ann Arbor on Saturday, after Smalling was injured during the warm-up. Bailly suffered an ankle problem during the victory over AC Milan in Los Angeles last week.

Jose Mourinho will now have to decide whether to risk Bailly and Herrera against the Champions League holders with just 10 days to go before the start of the Premier League season.

Matteo Darmian, Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Fred and Shaw were the only senior outfield players to take part in the session, as Mourinho is now without 16 players during the tour of the United States.

Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof are not in the U.S. after taking time off following the World Cup.

Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Matic have already returned home while new signing Diogo Dalot is yet to train with the main group as he recovers from a knee problem.

Mourinho also hit out at Anthony Martial for not returning to the team following the birth of his son.
