The playoff between the United States and Colombia for the final spot in next summer's Olympics has been changed to a two-legged, home-and-away series.
Originally, the spot was to be determined by a single game in Rio de Janeiro, the site of the games, but CONCACAF confirmed the change on Monday.
The shift will likely give the U.S. a better chance of winning, as the Americans will host the second leg after the series opens in Colombia.
The national federations will choose the dates and locations for the games, which must be completed by the end of March.
The U.S. advanced to the playoff after losing to Honduras in the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying tournament semifinal and then beating Canada in a third-place game.
Colombia finished second at this year's South American Youth Championship.
