DENVER (AP) -- Wes Hart scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute as the Colorado Rapids beat the Miami Fusion 3-1 on Wednesday night in Major League Soccer.
Colorado (12-14-4) is tied with Dallas for the seventh and eighth playoff spots, but holds the head-to-head tiebreaker against the Burn. Dallas dropped a 4-0 decision at Chicago on Wednesday night.
Hart, the former Columbine High School star in his first MLS season, scored off Marcelo Balboa's pass to give the Rapids a 2-1 lead. Jorge Dely Valdes added a goal in the 85th minute.
Colorado's Paul Bravo opened the scoring on a header in the 21st
minute, and Miami's Ivan McKinley tied on another header in the
41st minute.
Miami forward Roy Lassiter, the league's career scoring leader, was ejected in the 75th minute for elbowing Lance Key.
The Fusion dropped to 10-14-5 and saw their playoffs hopes diminish.
