The goal gave the CyberRays (1-0-0) their first home win over Boston (0-1-0), which earned a win and a tie in San Jose last season.

Chastain fired a right-footed volley past Boston goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc in the 88th minute for the winner.

After a scoreless first half, Maren Meinert gave Boston a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute.

Meinert pounced on a rebound of Sarah Yohe's shot and scored into the upper left corner of the net.

In the 69th minute, referee Sandra Hunt whistled for a penalty kick after Breakers defender Monica Gonzalez handled the ball inside the Boston penalty area.

Chastain, who converted a left-footed penalty kick for the United States in the 1999 World Cup final, pushed her right-footed shot wide left.

The CyberRays began their comeback with a goal from Brazilian forward Pretinha in the 73rd minute. Tisha Venturini-Hoch set up Pretinha for the shot from 19 yards out. The ball deflected off of Boston defender Jena Kluegel and past LeBlanc, who started in place of the injured Tracy Ducar.

Boston was also missing Kristine Lilly, Kate Sobrero and Ragnhild Gulbrandsen.
