Barcelona want to sign Colombia international defender Yerry Mina in January, according to Palmeiras sporting director Alexandre Mattos.
The La Liga leaders have first option to buy the towering 23-year-old centre back after this summer's World Cup.
However, Mattos revealed on Wednesday that Barcelona are keen to bring in Mina this winter, though the Sao Paulo giants want to keep him until after the European season.
"It's true that Barcelona came for Mina with another offer but also that Palmeiras want Mina to stay here," Mattos said.
"We are going to wait for him to arrive in Sao Paulo and we will talk.
"If Palmeiras is satisfied with any situation so that he leaves before, we will do it. Otherwise, he will stay with us."
