Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane heads FIFA coach award shortlist

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is the leading contender to win FIFA's Men's Coach of the Year award after the shortlist was published on Thursday.

Zidane, who guided Madrid to a Champions League and La Liga double last season, is joined on the list by Chelsea's Premier League-winning boss Antonio Conte and Serie A champion Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus.

Bayern Munich's Carlo Ancelotti, who guided his side to the Bundesliga title, is also on the 12-man shortlist, as are Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino, Manchester United's Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City.

The winner of the award, part of FIFA's The Best series of accolades, will be chosen by national team coaches, captains, selected media representatives and football fans.

The shortlist for the Women's Coach of the Year award includes Netherlands boss Sarina Wiegman, Nigeria's Florence Omagbemi and Chelsea Ladies' Emma Hayes.

Voting close on Sept. 7, with the prizes handed out at a ceremony in London the following month.
