Arsenal club shop raided by burglars, 'large quantity of merchandise' taken

Burglars raided one of Arsenal's official club stores outside the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening and left with "a large quantity of merchandise," police have confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police said officers in Islington, London, were called shortly before midnight on Tuesday following reports of a burglary at the Highbury House store, one of three official club shops at or near the Emirates Stadium.

"Officers attended and found that the front of the Arsenal FC store had been broken into and a large quantity of merchandise had been stolen. The suspects made off in a car and two mopeds," police said in a statement.

Photos on social media showed the front of the store smashed up and what looked like match kits strewn on the ground by the entrance.

There were also suggestions on social media that the burglars had used a car to smash into the front of the shop.
