Thierry Henry: Tottenham can win title - 'I never thought I'd be saying this'

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has admitted his former rivals Tottenham Hotspur can win the Premier League this season -- even if he can scarcely believe it himself.

While most of the focus this season has been on surprise leaders Leicester City, Spurs have quietly put themselves in position to challenge for a first English league title since 1961.

Tottenham are in second place with 13 games remaining, five points behind Leicester and ahead of third-placed Arsenal on goal difference.

With Spurs in the midst of a a run of six straight wins -- four in the league and two in the FA Cup -- even old foe Henry says they appear strong enough to claim the Premier League trophy.

"Tottenham are doing so well, and they are a good side," Henry wrote in a column for Sky Sports. "I never thought in my life I'd be saying this, but they can win the league and deserve a lot of credit.

"What was missing at White Hart Lane was stability and consistency, and for once [chairman] Daniel Levy showed a bit of patience with his manager. Mauricio Pochettino is the right guy."

Henry said backing up star goal scorer Harry Kane with a host of good, young players has been the key to the club's consistency this season.

"They have a lot of young players, and they are not just playing cameo roles, they are a factor in the team," he added.

"They have a great goal scorer and Christian Eriksen can provide, Mousa Dembele can hold and play, and Dele Alli is a great player too. On top, they have a good goalkeeper, which is very important.

"Pochettino is a good coach and has the club believing they can win the league. And yes, I think they can win the league."
