FRANKFURT, Germany -- Ruslan Chagaev, the WBA "champion in recess," will make his comeback against Carl Davis Drumond.
Chagaev will fight Drumond on Feb. 7 in Rostock, Germany, said Universum Promotion on Thursday.
Chagaev defended his title last January against Matt Skelton. Two scheduled title defenses against Nikolai Valuev fell through because of illness and injury, leading the WBA to list the Uzbekistan-born fighter as "champion in recess."
Valuev, who beat John Ruiz in August, is the WBA champion. He will fight Evander Holyfield on Dec. 20 in Zurich, Switzerland. The winner must fight Chagaev by June 26.
