Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Miguel Cotto

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto met in a boxing match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 5, 2012. Mayweather won via 12-round unanimous decision (118-110, 117-111, 117-111). Mayweather improved to 43-0 (26 KO) and won Cotto's WBA Super Welterweight title. Cotto fell to 37-3 (30 KO) with the loss.
Mayweather, who delayed his jail sentence to remain available for the May 5 fight date, announced the fight during his Nevada State Athletic Commission licensing hearing on Feb. 1, 2012. This was Mayweather's eighth consecutive fight in Las Vegas and sixth consecutive at the MGM Grand. It was also his second career fight on Cinco de Mayo, following a 2007 victory over Oscar De La Hoya. Cotto was fighting at the MGM Grand for the eighth time and third in the past three years. All three losses in his career have come at the MGM Grand.
