ARCADIA, Calif. -- Mast Track will not run in the Breeders' Cup after suffering a quarter crack on Monday, according to Bobby Frankel, his trainer and co-owner.
"The barn called me after training and said he had a quarter crack," Frankel said Monday. "I don't know what foot it is. I'll find out tomorrow."
Mast Track was pre-entered in both the Dirt Mile and the Classic. On Monday morning at Santa Anita, Frankel was debating which race to run in. Last week, Frankel had been leaning toward the Classic, but on Monday he said he might instead go in the Dirt Mile. Hours later, it was moot.
"I guess it wasn't meant to be," Frankel said. "If he was 6-5, it would be upsetting. Maybe I'm saving myself some money."
