1997
Fell in five sets to Cedric Pioline in the Wimbledon semifinals, his last appearance at the All England Club.

Dropped a five-set marathon to Andrei Medvedev in the second round of the Australian Open.

1996
Former Wimbledon champion suffered through an injury-plagued year, but finished in the top 20 for the sixth straight year.

Played in only 15 tournaments, his fewest in seven years.

After nearly pulling out of the French Open, Stich made a strong run before falling to Yevgeny Kafelnikov in the final.

Missed the final three tournaments of 1995 after suffering torn ligaments in his left ankle in Vienna.

Returned to win in Antwerp in February, but aggravated the injury the following week and underwent surgery in March. Also suffered shoulder tendinitis during the summer hardcourt season.

1991
Performed brilliantly at the All England Club where he beat Jim Courier, defending champion Stefan Edberg and three-time winner Boris Becker in consecutive rounds for the Wimbledon championship.
