BIRMINGHAM, England -- Top-seeded Jelena Dokic reached the quarterfinals of the DFS Classic grass court tournament Thursday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Elena Likhovtseva. Second-seeded Sandrine Testud was upset by Nicole Pratt 6-4, 6-1, while sixth-seeded Anastasia Myskina rallied to beat Alexandra Stevenson 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Stevenson, who reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 1999, fell apart after building an early lead. "I didn't play well in the second and third set,'' Stevenson said. "I gave her my serve and I shouldn't have. My volleys weren't crisp enough and I didn't put them away. I just missed a lot of chances.'' Dokic, who had failed to progress past the first round in this Wimbledon tuneup the past two years, was tied at 3-3 in the first set when she began to hit the ball with great pace and won seven games. "I felt I played better than yesterday and I was more solid and made less errors,'' Dokic said. "If I can keep building then I know I can do well at Wimbledon.'' Dokic will next face Elena Daniilidou of Greece, who beat eleventh-seeded Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-4, 6-2. Pratt broke Testud's serve early in the match, and Testud was unable to break back while struggling on the soft, slick grass. "My concentration wasn't good and I also started to have problems with my serve in the second set,'' Testud said. Clarisa Fernandez continued her good form on grass after reaching last week's French Open semifinal. The unseeded Argentine reached the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-3 win over American Jill Craybas.
