PERTH, Australia -- Alicia Molik and Lleyton Hewitt gave Australia a 2-0 victory over Slovakia in its best-of-three Hopman Cup match Tuesday.
Molik beat Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-2, the second straight loss in the tournament for the world's eighth-ranked player. It was the first win over a top-10 player by Molik, who is ranked 94th.
Hewitt easily beat Dominik Hrbaty 6-2, 6-0 in the men's singles.
It was the only match played Tuesday. On Wednesday, the United States takes on Spain, and the Czech Republic plays Italy. |
