Weather permitting, the second round will be played Thursday.

Top seed Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic, who went 3-0 in singles action at last week's Hopman Cup team event, will face American qualifier Robby Ginepri.

Third seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile will meet David Ferrer of Spain and fourth seed and former world No. 1 Gustavo Kuerten of Brazil will take on Michael Russell, another American qualifier.
