WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Shelby Rogers of Charleston, S.C., gets a chance to make her debut in the French Open's main draw after earning a wild card from the U.S. Tennis Association based on clay-court results on the USTA Pro Circuit.
The 20-year-old Rogers won the title at Charlottesville, Va., was a quarterfinalist at Dothan, Ala., and made the round of 16 at Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.
She is ranked 190th. Her only Grand Slam tournament so far was a first-round loss at the 2010 U.S. Open.
The U.S. Open and French Open trade wild-card invitations every year. The USTA's French Open male wild-card recipient is Alex Kuznetsov.
The French Open starts May 26.
