| | NEW YORK -- The WNBA expansion franchise in Indiana is
1-0.
The team on Monday won a drawing that determined the order of
next month's expansion draft. Seattle will pick second, followed
by Miami and Portland, as determined at the league
meetings.
The four expansion teams that begin play in 2000 will acquire
their first six players during the expansion draft on Dec.
15. The order will be reversed for each round.
The 2000 WNBA draft will be April 25. The expansion teams will
pick seventh through 10th in each round, selecting in inverse
order of their positions in the first round of the expansion
draft.
Cleveland picks first in April followed by Washington, Utah,
Orlando, Phoenix and Minnesota. Charlotte selects 11th before
Detroit, New York, Sacramento, Los Angeles and three-time
defending champion Houston make their first selections.
