Seattle Storm add to coaching staff, hire Pokey Chatman, Ebony Hoffman as assistants

Longtime WNBA head coach Pokey Chatman is back in the league, this time as an assistant. Chatman was hired, along with former WNBA player Ebony Hoffman, by Seattle Storm head coach Noelle Quinn, it was announced Friday.

"I'm very excited to add Pokey and Ebony to our coaching staff," said Quinn, who took over for retiring Dan Hughes last year and will enter her first full season as Storm head coach in May. "Both women are passionate about the game and exceptional teachers. They know what it takes to win at all levels and can help continue the championship culture in Seattle."

Chatman was head coach of the Chicago Sky for six seasons, including a trip to the 2014 WNBA Finals, and of the Indiana Fever for three seasons. She also has coached professionally overseas.

"Pokey brings passion, dedication, and most importantly a wealth of experience to our staff," Quinn said. "Her basketball knowledge and expertise will elevate us in all aspects of the game."

Hoffman played 11 seasons in the WNBA with Indiana, Los Angeles, and Connecticut; she and Quinn were teammates in 2011 with the Sparks. Hoffman was the league's most improved player in 2008. After retiring as a player in 2014, she began coaching, including in the G-League and the NBA Academy.
