While the NCAA opposes the Fair Pay to Play Act because it would make it illegal for California schools to follow current rules for name, image and likeness, board of governors chair Michael Drake said the NCAA does need to evolve.
The California State Assembly voted 73-0 in favor of the proposed law known as the Fair Pay to Play Act. The legislation would make it possible for college athletes to accept endorsement money.
