Tennessee State women's basketball coach Tracee Jones made a fantastic "deal."
Appearing on the NBC television game show "Deal or No Deal," Jones won $265,000 -- but could have won $1 million if she hadn't taken the deal she settled for from the show's "banker."
The show, which was taped in August, aired Monday night.
Jones, whose annual salary at the university is $75,000, told The Tennessean that her first purchase will be a car, since the wheels of her 1999 Mustangs are falling off.
"I have no idea what kind of car I'm going to get, but it's going to be one that a head coach would drive, not one with the wheels falling off,'' Jones told the newspaper. "I'm also going to take my family on vacation wherever they want to go and make a donation to my university.''
Jones turned down deals of $130,000 and $189,000 before accepting the $265,000 prize. Just for fun, host Howie Mandel had her keep opening briefcases and it turned out the one she initially picked contained a $1 million prize.
"It was disappointing not to win the million, but I'm still happy. It was a lot of fun and to even have the chance at that was unbelievable,'' Jones told the newspaper.
