Sanni's 21 points, 16 rebounds fuel Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Olayinka Sanni had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead No. 14 West Virginia to a 68-63 win over Marquette on Wednesday night.

The Mountaineers (13-3, 3-1 Big East) trailed at halftime at home for the first time before rallying behind Sanni.

West Virginia took the lead for good with 12 unanswered points and Sanni's 3-pointer and two free throws finished the run for a 53-43 lead with eight minutes remaining.

Marquette made seven consecutive free throws, including three straight by Krystal Ellis to cut the deficit to 66-63 with 17 seconds left. Sanni closed the scoring by sinking two free throws in the final 10 seconds.

Meg Bulger scored 12 points and Chakhia Cole and LaQuita Owens added 11 apiece for West Virginia, which won for the 13th straight time at home.

Ellis finished with 23 points and Paige Fiedorowicz had 13 for Marquette (9-7, 1-2), which fell to 0-4 against ranked teams this season.

Marquette led 32-28 at halftime after the teams combined for 21 first-half turnovers. Both teams finished with 18.
