Meredith Mitchell's career-high 21 power Georgia by USC
ATHENS, Ga. -- Senior Meredith Mitchell scored a career-high 21 points to lead Georgia (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 12 AP) to a 67-60 win over Southern Cal (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) on Sunday.
Georgia (4-0) took an early 21-7 lead and led by as many as 16 points in the second half, forcing Southern Cal (1-2) to play catch up.
Khaalidah Miller added 17 points for Georgia.
Jacki Gemelos led Southern Cal with 18 points. Briana Gilbreath and Cassie Harberts scored 15 apiece. Harberts also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Lady Dogs led by 16 as late as 3:00 to play before the Women of Troy mounted a 12-7 rally down the stretch that was too little too late.
