Shoni Schimmel, Monique Reid lead Louisville past Florida State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Shoni Schimmel scored 25 points and Monique Reid added 23 to lead Louisville (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) to an 85-76 victory Friday over Florida State (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today).
Schimmel, who hit four of nine 3-point shots, nailed one from long range with 4:23 left that snapped a tie at 66 and the Cardinals (5-1) didn't look back.
Cierra Bravard scored a career-high 27 points for Florida State, which began the season ranked 14th nationally but has lost three of its last four going into a Sunday visit from Nebraska. Bravard was perfect on 11 free throws. Natasha Howard added 13 points and a game-high 7 rebounds for the Seminoles.
Reid's 9 of 12 performance from the floor helped Louisville to a 48.4 shooting percentage.
Florida State (3-3) was hurt by 24 turnovers.
