No. 22 Cal women hold off No. 15 Arizona St. 74-63
BERKELEY, Calif. -- Afure Jemerigbe scored a career-high 23, and Brittany Boyd had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists on Sunday night to lead No. 22 California past No. 15 Arizona State 74-63.
Boyd made four of her last six free throws and Cal (18-7, 10-4) closed the game on an 11-5 run to give the Bears sole possession of second place in the Pac-12.
Gennifer Brandon added 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Reshanda Gray had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Cal led 32-30 at halftime and opened the second on an 11-0 run. The Bears extended to a 15-point lead three different times.
ASU closed the gap to 63-58 with 2:47 to play, but the Sun Devils would get no closer.
Katie Hempen had 12 points, Deja Mann added 11 points and Adrianne Thomas scored 10 for Arizona State. Sophie Brunner had eight points and 10 rebounds.
