Kyra Lambert to redshirt for Duke after tearing knee ligament during NCAA tournament

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke guard Kyra Lambert says she will redshirt this season after tearing a knee ligament during the NCAA tournament.

Lambert announced her decision Tuesday, saying she will resume playing in 2018-19 as a redshirt junior.

She started the first 33 games of her sophomore season in 2016-17 before tearing her left anterior cruciate ligament in a first-round victory over Hampton on March 18. The Blue Devils were eliminated by Oregon two days later.

She says her knee hasn't yet healed enough to "get me at the level that I was playing at, and I don't want to come back anything less than 100 percent."

No. 14 Duke plays host to UNC Greensboro on Thursday night.
