North Carolina State women's basketball to have home-and-home series with South Carolina

NC State will play at South Carolina on Dec. 3, introducing another high-profile nonconference game as women's college basketball programs continue to finalize their schedules less than three weeks ahead of the start of the season.

The schools announced the game Thursday as part of a home-and-home series that will see South Carolina play at NC State next season.

South Carolina also announced the remainder of its nonconference schedule. In addition to the game against NC State and a previously announced game at UConn on Feb. 8, the Gamecocks will play home games against College of Charleston and Temple, as well as at Iowa State in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. They will also participate in a Thanksgiving tournament, although details of location and opponents have yet to be announced.

NC State has not announced the rest of its nonconference schedule.

Both teams are expected to open the season ranked in the top 10, with South Carolina the likely preseason No. 1 after holding that spot at the time the NCAA tournament was canceled in March. The game in December will feature two of the best post players in the nation in South Carolina's Aliyah Boston and NC State's Elissa Cunane.

The national attendance leader in each of the past six seasons, South Carolina announced this week that it will accommodate around 3,500 fans for home games to start this season.
