A prelim. study presented at the Amer. Acad. of Neurology annual mtg. found women athletes to be 50 % more likely than male athletes to have a sports-related concussion. Recovery time was comparable. From 2000-14, Columbia U. did pre/post-concussion cognitive tests & tracked symptoms of 822 men & 381 women from football, basketball, soccer, etc. Concussion-sufferers were 3 times more likely to have another one as others were to have a first.
