SAN ANTONIO -- Though Stanford and Connecticut have only met in the NCAA tournament on four previous occasions, the matchup -- which resumes in Tuesday's NCAA title game (ESPN, 8:30 p.m. ET) -- might be the game's next great rivalry.
Both teams are appearing in their third consecutive Final Four. And while the Huskies are riding an NCAA Division I women's record 77-game winning streak, including a victory over the Cardinal in last year's Final Four, Stanford has the distinction of being the last team to beat UConn, in the 2008 national semifinals.
But if you don't count their head-to-head matchups over the past three seasons (one won by Stanford, two by UConn), the Huskies have won 90 consecutive games, and Stanford has won 56 straight. A look at their impressive numbers, provided by ESPN's Greg Dohmann:
