WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Ticker) -- Quarterback George Jones ran for three touchdowns as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers rallied from an early deficit en route to a 38-33 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The victory was the Blue Bombers' first against the Tiger-Cats in three seasons. Winnipeg (2-5-1-1) had not defeated Hamilton since July 1997 at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

After Jones scored on a four-yard scamper for the game's first touchdown, the Ti-Cats responded with three straight scores and took a 21-7 lead after one period.

The Blue Bombers slowly chipped away in the second quarter as quarterback Khari Jones hooked up with Geroy Simon on a 45-yard touchdown and Troy Westwood added a 28-yard field goal. Winnipeg took control when Jones scored on two straight one-yard runs for a 31-21 advantage.

Jones, who completed 25-of-38 passes for 342 yards, fired an 18-yard TD pass to Milt Stegall for a 38-27 advantage with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Hamilton (5-3-1) made it close in the final moments as Danny McManus threw his second touchdown of the game, a four-yarder to Andrew Griggs with six seconds left. However, the two-point conversion attempt failed.

The loss dropped the Ti-Cats into second place behind Montreal in the Eastern Conference. The Blue Bombers remain third.
