Sutton birdied four of the first five holes to put the Americans 3-up, and Furyk birdied the final four holes to close the match out. The Americans made nine birdies in 13 holes. It was sweet revenge for Furyk, who was beaten by Norman and Nick Price 6 and 5 in best ball Friday. It was also the second win of the tournament for the Sutton-Furyk team. It could have been worse had Norman not made three birdies of his own on the front.

Another match in which the Americans never trailed. Both Lehman and Mickelson birdied the third and fifth holes, and the U.S. won the fourth with a par to go 3-up. Mickelson, who made seven birdies on the day, added a birdie at the 10th for a 4-up lead. Despite letting it slip to 2-up after both bogeyed the 15th, a pair of birdies at No. 17 closed the match. "They outputted us today," Weir said. "The outplayed us from the start."

Els got a new partner but is still winless after four matches. He didn't play poorly -- making four birdies -- but didn't putt well. The match was even at the turn, but the Americans dominated the back side, with Love's birdies at Nos. 10 and 12 and Duval's birdie at the 14th putting them 3-up. Twice on the back side, Els rammed in birdie putts, only to have first Duval and then Love roll in birdies on top of him. "I didn't putt well," Els said. "But it probably wouldn't have mattered."

Cink and Triplett continue to be the hottest American team, winning their third straight match. The Americans trailed as late as the 10th hole, but Triplett birdied the 11th and 13th to put the Americans 1-up -- a lead they maintained through the rest of the round. The match was only the fourth of 20 to go the full 18 holes.

With Singh struggling both off the tee and with his putter, it was left to Goosen to beat Begay and Woods. And he did, with a pair of birdies on the front side and five on the back -- including three straight from Nos. 12-14. He closed the match with a 6-foot putt on the 17th hole, moments after Woods had missed a 15-footer on the same line. Singh eagled the 14th hole, but Woods matched him. Woods birdied the 14th to get the Americans to within one, but he missed what could have been a tying putt from eight feet on the 16th.
