Tiger Woods wins the Motorola Showdown at Sherwood.
Tiger Woods defeated David Duval 2 and 1 in their Motorola Showdown at Sherwood before a national audience on Monday night. Woods took the lead during the sixth hole and never relinquished it. Although Duval made a late run, he lost the critical 16th hole by hitting into a cluster of boulders in the fairway and could not best Woods on the par-3 17th. As the winner of the first-ever primetime event, Woods walked away with a $1.1 million purse.
