Quigley knocking on Bruno's door again

HOOVER, Ala. -- Dana Quigley, whose final-round rally fell
one stroke short last year, made his move a day earlier at the
Bruno's Memorial Classic on Saturday.
Quigley had eight birdies in a 6-under-par 66 and took a one-stroke lead over Gil Morgan and George Archer. Last year, he shot a final-round 66 before losing to Larry Nelson.
"I'm not used to being on top of the leaderboard going into Sunday," said Quigley, who set a Senior PGA Tour record last year with more than $1.3 million in earnings without a victory. "This is unsettled waters for me. I know I'll be nervous."
He is used to being in the hunt, with four second-place finishes in 11 events this year.
Quigley lost a stroke off his lead with a bogey on the 18th hole. The ball sailed wide of the hole and struck a spectator. He autographed a ball for the woman, then three-putted from the fringe of the green.
"I deserved a 6 there, and I got what I deserved," Quigley said. "It doesn't even dent the good things I did today."
Quigley, who surged into the lead with birdies on the first three holes, doesn't expect a big letdown in the final round unless his putting slips up.
"If I get the putting going, I'll be tough to beat," said Quigley, who had 18 top-10 finishes last year.
Morgan birdied four holes on the back nine in his 67, while Archer had five birdies and no bogeys in his.
Tom Jenkins, Bob Murphy and first-round leader Larry Nelson were at 135 after two rounds on the 6,967-yard Greystone Golf Club about 15 miles south of Birmingham.
Jenkins had Saturday's best round, a 65.
He had seven birdies and no bogeys, and set the tone by making a
short putt for par on the first hole.
"It was one of those things, when you think back, if you miss that little putt, it changes the whole day," said Jenkins, seeking for his first win in two years.
"Today just happened to be one of those days when all my putts were in the right spot."
