The tournament that launched the Senior Tour arrives this week with an appropriate title: Legends of Golf.

There are some incredible golf resumes among the 84 players in the field, which is divided into three age brackets. Players in their 50s will compete for the Legends title, those in their 60s for the Legendary title, and those 70 and older in the Demarat Division.

The Legends of Golf is a team event. To qualify, players must have won at least one major championship on either the PGA or Senior Tour, have a combined five or more victories on either tour or have been a former champion at this event.

There are several intriguing pairings in the field. Tom Watson and Lanny Wadkins, a pair of Senior rookies, will combine forces as one of the top teams. And Jack Nicklaus and Raymond Floyd will team up, both hoping to draw on past success.

Defending champions Hubert Green and Gil Morgan are worth keeping an eye on. Green won last week's Audi Senior Classic for his second official Senior title, while Morgan is making his 2000 debut. A dominant player on the Senior Tour the past three seasons, Morgan injured a rib muscle in the offseason and has yet to play.

Two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North will make his Senior Tour debut, teaming with Jim Colbert. North reached the mandatory age of 50 earlier this month.

Lee Trevino and Mike Hill are teamed up once again, looking for their fifth title in this event.

While the field is littered with players seen on the Senior Tour on a regular basis, the Demarat Division is where the true legends can be found. Players like Sam Snead, Jack Fleck, Roberto De Vicenzo and Doug Ford are among the two dozens players in the field.

The Senior Tour gets back to official events next week with the Emerald Coast Classic in Milton, Fla. That is followed by consecutive majors -- the Tradition at the end of March, then the PGA Seniors' Championship two weeks later.
