Karrie Webb returns to the Locust Hill Country Club in a familiar position she was in last year when she defends her title at the $1 million Rochester International.

Webb entered last year's event with four victories on the season, and added her fifth with birdies at the last three holes in the final round to post a one-stroke win over Cindy McCurdy. She went on to win six titles in 1999 as the tour's player of the year.

Webb has picked up right where she left off this season, recording four wins and finishing no worse than sixth in her first eight starts. She has 11 consecutive top-10 finishes, dating to last season, which is only six shy of breaking her own record set in 1999.

"I believe I can win every week I tee it up, and that motivation to win is enough," Webb said. "Of course, it's not physically possible to win every week, but my goal is to get into position and give myself a shot at holding up that trophy on Sunday."

A winner of 20 events, Webb will attempt to defend a title for the sixth time in her career and the third time this season. She won her second straight Office Depot in January and captured her third straight Australian Ladies Masters one month later.

Annika Sorenstam will try to keep Webb from a successful defense. Sorenstam has recorded two victories and six top-10 finishes overall in nine starts and qualified for the LPGA Hall of Fame with her victory at the Welch's/Circle K Championship in March. She claimed her 20th career win in her most recent start three weeks ago at the Firstar LPGA Classic.

Hall of Famer Betsy King, who won her second title of the season at the Corning Classic two weks ago, hopes for her second straight win in upstate New York.

Grace Park, who captured her first career win at last week's Kathy Ireland Greens.com LPGA Classic, also is among the 144 players entered.

In addition, 14-year-old sisters Aree and Naree Song Wonglukiet accepted sponsor exemptions for their second career LPGA Tour event. They made their debut at the Nabisco Championship in March, with Aree making quite an impression by tying for 10th, while Naree missed the cut.
