The Content Ad for the ESPN App is a Premium API-driven ad unit featuring advertiser branding with dynamic ESPN content. Three different versions of this format are available: News & Notes, Video Content, and Social Spotlight.

  • Include popular social share links to drive users.
  • Feature branding alongside ESPN stats and facts, video content, or load content from Twitter.
  • The Content Ad will serve to the top of major sections within the ESPN App.

Animation/Ad Behavior
  • Animation is not accepted.
  • In the event of a failure with the API feed, a static fallback 320x180 creative will be served.
  • News & Notes: A carousel of facts will appear below the branded area.
  • Video Content: A thumbnail for a specified piece of ESPN video content will be displayed below the branded area. Video playback occurs in the ESPN video overlay player.
  • Social Spotlight: A carousel of the last four Tweets from a specific hashtag or username(s) is displayed.
Design Restrictions
  • Ad profiles cannot be sold on an individual basis.
  • This ad unit must be created in-house by ESPN.

  • Currently, video starts and quartiles are not available within the ESPN App.
HTTPS Compatibility
  • All creative, including third-party tracking tags, must use secure protocol (HTTPS).
  • Any creative that is not fully secure will be sent back for revisions.
Submission Deadline
Please allow five business days for testing and approval.
This ad must be created in-house by ESPN and will be built to ESPN's HTML5 requirements.
