SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick (Ticker) -- Eric Belanger scored a pair of goals and added two assists and Roberto Luongo made 35 saves to lead the Lowell Lock Monsters past the Saint John Flames, 5-2, in the first game of their best-of-five, first-round playoff series. Belanger notched the game-winner in the middle period for Lowell, which will skate at Saint John in Game Two on Thursday. Luongo recorded 15 saves in the second period and 11 in the third to earn the win. Rich Brennan notched a marker and had a pair of helpers for the Lock Monsters, who won despite being outshot, 37-22. Lee Jinman, who played just three games in the regular season, and Lee Sorochan each had a goal for the Flames, who trailed 4-0 after two periods. Jean-Sebastien Giguere faced only 22 shots but allowed five goals to take the loss.
