Frederick assisted on Jeff Christian's marker 4:40 into the second period and scored 4:08 later. Marc Lamothe stopped 21 shots to record his 19th win of the season. Back-to-back goals by Eduard Pershin and Steve Walker within a 26-second span of the middle period supplied Detroit with a 2-1 lead. Trevor Koenig suffered his 11th loss despite stopping 43 shots for the Vipers, who have managed just three goals in their last seven contests.
