Feedback: Bucks ... winners or whiners?
ESPN.com

Ray Allen
Allen
We asked for your thoughts on the buzz surrounding the Eastern Conference finals, starting with Ray Allen's postgame comments about the which teams the NBA really wants in the finals. Here are selected responses from ESPN.com users:

Hey Bucks, shut up and play!
Here's the theory – if Ray Allen and Co. would concentrate on showing up to play for 48 minutes instead of looking for an easy excuse, they would be winning instead of whining. They should focus on the design of their chuck-and-duck offense, and leave the officiating to the stripes.

Real conspiracy is in Bucks hands
If there is a conspiracy in effect in this series it's the Bucks throwing games. Any team that can blow a lead, choke on an open eight footer, miss a tip in, and lose to a crippled team who's only scoring threat is shooting 27 percent on the series doesn't deserve to make the finals.

The NBA wants more bang for their Buck
Without a doubt, of course the NBA wants Philadelphia to face the Lakers! I'm happy Ray Allen and the rest of the Bucks had the nerve and guts to bring it to the sleeping public's attention. The NBA wants their MVP (and all his tattoos, attitude, scoring ability, etc.) in the finals. The league is about providing entertainment.

It's just not worth it
The potential gains by the NBA should there be a Philly/LA final are far outweighed by the potential losses should a conspiracy be revealed. (David) Stern would have to be psychotic to try and fix the playoffs. If a conspiracy were revealed, the ramifications would make the Black Sox scandal seem insignificant. The NBA as we know it would be gone. If there is any indication that the integrity of the game is compromised, the league would collapse.

Kudos to Ray
I applaud Ray for actually stepping up and conveying what many NBA fans feel about what occurs in the playoffs. Certainly the Bucks aren't the first team in league history to get this kind of treatment. The NBA is in a sad state when teams are not given the opportunity to play on level surface, and let awards and popularity dictate who wins.

Desperate times ... desperate measures
I think this is the desperate cry of a team on their way home for the summer. A last ditch effort to gain sympathy from fans and support from the refs in the next game. As seen in previous playoff games, when complaints are made to the refs – they usually bend over backwards to go the other way – this is probably the Bucks only hope to get a Game 7. It is also a distraction technique for the media to forget the fact that they blew a 16-point lead (and their cool) in one of their biggest games of the year to put themselves in this must-win situation.

A frustrated bunch
Ray Allen's comments reflect nothing but a sense of extreme frustration. He and his teammates have been frustrated by the fact that they have not been able to beat a team whose current state of health, by all rights, should preclude victory over anyone – least of all the Bucks. They are frustrated that their coach has been so thoroughly outclassed by his counterpart. Most damning, however, they are frustrated by the fact that they see something in the Sixers that they never expected to see and something that sorely lacks in their own locker room: heart?

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree
Nobody can really blame Ray Allen for his ignorant statements about this supposed "conspiracy theory." After all Allen is simply following the lead of his whining and rambling coach. George Karl is the root of all of the fabulous fabrications that come from the mouths of his players. I think that if Karl spent more time motivating his players to perform more consistently and spent less time whining, they might be ahead in the series instead of behind. Ray Allen is only a mouthpiece for a man who could make more money as a science-fiction writer than as a basketball coach.

Embarrassing Bucks
As a Bucks fan I can only say I am embarrassed at these accusations of favoritism. I have watched the Bucks offense go on streaks, hitting shot after shot only to put their hands around their throats and forget how to run the offense when the pressure is on. Sam Cassell needs to shut his mouth. Glenn Robinson needs to learn how to dribble around the paint. Caffey and Thomas need to go hard at Mutombo or not bother taking it in the paint at all, watching them indecisively throw the ball back out towards the perimeter as the shot clock nears zero is disgusting. Finally, Ray Allen should stop barking at the officials and direct his words at his teammates about passing him the ball when he is hot.

Setting up a storybook series
It's about time something is said about the consistency of the officiating throughout this series and why it might be so. What better way to hype a championship series than to have the Cinderella 76ers, lead by league MVP Iverson, face the mighty Lakers. The story line is as classic as many novels. Have the hero (MVP) overcome adversity and pain (injuries) to take on the big menacing bad guy (Lakers). Throughout this Eastern series, the media has been talking about how much the 76ers have been injured. But wait, isn't Sam Cassell playing with injured ribs and outperforming Iverson through five games?

But who really wants to watch a Championship between the Lakers and some no-name team that simply outplays their opponents? Hell, even ESPN has stated that the West is going to win this year. Sorry fellas, the Bucks can make a series of it, they have beaten the Lakers and San Antonio twice. The 76ers would only be a doormat for the Lakers to wipe their feet on as they walked to the podium to collect another trophy.

Bucks no stranger to the choke
We all know the league and a large percentage of the fans want the "marquee" matchup. But even if there is some truth to Ray Allen's insinuations, the Milwaukee Bucks, especially the head coach, have themselves to blame for their lack of a killer instinct in the third and fourth quarters. Maybe Milwaukee can have their skulls x-rayed to check for the N.B.A. implanted microchip that causes Bucks to short-circuit down the stretch. Aren't they the same team that nearly blew the two-game lead they had against Charlotte? Isn't George Karl the same coach whose team was on the losing end of one of the greatest upsets in N.B.A. history? Instead of complaining and pointing fingers, they should focus on learning how to be champions instead of chumps.

Give 'em some credit!
Ever since Chuck Barkley has been dogging the Bucks on TNT, there has been a bandwagon effect from the rest of the media world. Sir Charles said Orlando would come back from two down and win it and they didn't. He said they'd get smoked by Toronto and they didn't. No respect for the small market! Every viewpoint on virtually every channel that talked about the NBA playoffs talked about Spurs/Lakers vs. Sixers. If it wasn't Philly, it was the Heat ... when the Heat got beat it was Toronto ... when Toronto got beat and Philly vs. Miller Time was a reality, people talked about Iverson's injury.

People should start focusing on the Bucks record vs. the western conference this regular season (8-0) and realizing that they are for real and that they CAN give the LA Lakers a run for the title. After the Bucks shoot the lights out in LA, maybe people will finally open their eyes and see that Big Dog, Baby Face Ray, and the rest of the pack are really in the house.

Wizard behind the curtain
How can you deny that calls are being missed? Big Dog is tripped in the middle of the floor, and nothing! Jason Caffey's phantom moving pick. Iverson is getting away with murder, and David Stern's striped minions are calling any and all touch fouls on the Bucks. Let's step back and enjoy the genius of it all, David you have done it once again

Hey Ray, want a tissue?
Conspiracy? The Sixers had the best regular season record in the East.
Conspiracy? Allen Iverson IS the MVP of the league.
Conspiracy? Aaron McKie IS the best Sixth Man in the league.
Conspiracy? Dikembe Mutombo IS the Defensive Player of the year.
Conspiracy? Larry Brown IS the Coach of the Year.
Doesn't look like a conspiracy to me
