Oklahoma City, Okla. -- One of only three undefeated ranked teams, the 13-0 UCLA Bruins continue to hold the top spot in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll. The Bruins claimed the Palm Springs Classic with a 4-0 record after recording wins over a then-No. 12 Tennessee, Baylor, Northwestern, and Penn State thanks to the arm of workhorse Keira Goerl (Moreno Valley, CA) who went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. The Arizona Wildcats moved to No. 2 with a five-win weekend including an 8-2 victory over No. 6 Georgia and a 5-0 shutout to a then-No. 7 Alabama. The 13-0 Golden Bears of California remain undefeated just behind at No. 3 with wins over Florida International and UC Santa Barbara. Oklahoma fell to No. 5 after losses to Louisville and Sam Houston State while the rest of the top 10 teams remain the same. Tennessee landed at No. 11, while LSU jumped from No. 16 to No. 13. Pacific saw this week's biggest move. They jumped from a tie for No. 27 to No. 19 after wins over Penn State, Notre Dame, Coastal Carolina and a then-No. 7Alabama. After three losses, the Titans of Cal State Fullerton fell from No. 20 to No. 24. Florida, the new No. 23, broke into the rankings for the first time this season, while South Florida and Texas A&M also enter tied for No. 25.
Dropped out: DePaul, Texas State. Others receiving votes: Texas State (33), DePaul (32), Long Beach State (29), Notre Dame (23), Northwestern (13), Illinois (12), Oklahoma State (6), Florida Atlantic(6), Cal State Northridge (6), Massachusetts (4), Georgia Tech (3), Michigan State (2), Auburn (2).
