Head coach Nolan Richardson needs to make sure there are enough minutes and enough balls. Last year, Richardson had 11 players who averaged 10 or more minutes. When you’ve only got 13 guys on your roster, that tells you guys are running in and out of there constantly. I love the Razorbacks' pressing and harassing style -- they'll have fresh athletic bodies coming at you. They don't seem to worry about rebounding because they press so much, which could be their strength again. They've got so many good athletes. The question is do they have enough size underneath to compete? One thing Richardson has that a lot of teams don't, is five seniors out on the floor most of the time. Led by outstanding players Brandon Dean and Jannero Pargo, the Razorbacks will be back in the NCAA Tournament. |

Outlook
By any objective measure, Nolan Richardson's program isn't what it used to be during its spectacular mid-90s run. After winning the West their first four years in the SEC, the Razorbacks now haven't won it six straight seasons.
But most programs in the league would love to have this kind of slippage. Arkansas still has made the NCAA Tournament each of the past four seasons and still has won a minimum of 18 games every year since Richardson's first in Fayetteville, 1985-86.
Without 6-8 all-court performer Joe Johnson, the emphasis switches to a pack of blazingly quick guards: Jannero Pargo, Brandon Dean, Teddy Gipson and T.J. Cleveland. The four combined to average 37.1 points, and all had at least 50 assists and 35 steals.
Don't ask about the inside game, which is manned by midgets or incomplete players.
What we like: Richardson's teams are usually at their best and most entertaining when playing porcine helter-skelter, scrambling all over the court to create chaos. This undersized team should excel at that style.
What we don't like: The Hogs were hammered on the glass last year, outrebounded by nearly six per game and losing some big ballgames because of it. With nobody on the roster taller than 6-9, that will again be a prime concern.
The bottom line: This could be another in a series of NCAA bubble teams. Recent Arkansas form has been plenty of wobbles right through January, then a February or March sprint to make the field.
