Leaving too soon?

There are currently 45 players on NBA rosters who would still have college eligibility remaining. In the years each of the players below left college early for the NBA draft (1998-2001), there were a total of 157 early entrants from college, meaning 112 players either went undrafted or withdrew their names prior to the draft.

A total of 53 early-entry players were selected in the 1996, '97 and '98 drafts, but only 37 managed to earn a second NBA contract with a team.

Those current players are: Shareef Abdur-Rahim (Atlanta), Ray Allen (Milwaukee), Kobe Bryant (L.A. Lakers), Marcus Camby (New York), Erick Dampier (Golden State), Allen Iverson (Philadelphia), Stephon Marbury (Phoenix), Jermaine O'Neal (Indiana), Vitaly Potapenko (Boston), Antoine Walker (Boston), Samaki Walker (L.A. Lakers), Lorenzen Wright (Memphis), Tony Battie (Boston), Chauncey Billups (Minnesota), Danny Fortson (Golden State), Adonal Foyle (Golden State), Tracy McGrady (Orlando), Ron Mercer (Chicago), Maurice Taylor (Houston), Rafer Alston (Milwaukee), Mike Bibby (Sacramento), Vince Carter (Toronto), Ricky Davis (Cleveland), Dontae Jones (Washington), Jeff McInnis (L.A. Clippers), Tim Thomas (Milwaukee), Al Harrington (Indiana), Larry Hughes (Golden State), Antawn Jamison (Golden State), Rashard Lewis (Seattle), Tyrron Lue (Washington), Jelani McCoy (L.A. Lakers), Paul Pierce (Boston), Robert Traylor (Charlotte), Jason Williams (Memphis), Nzar Mohammed (Atlanta), Jerome James (Seattle).

Here, however, are the 2001-02 NBA statistics of the 45 players who could still be in the college ranks (though Dec. 19):
